New IITs

The government has established 8 new IITs.
The sites for six IITs are finalized.
Andhra Pradesh: Medak
Bihar: Bihta
Orrisa: Khurda
Madhya Pradesh: Indore
Punjab: Ropar
Himachal Pradesh: Mandi

For IIT at Rajasthan, State Government had proposed Kota as the possible location, however, this was not accepted by the Union Government.

The State government has identified the location for IIT, Gujrat. The proposal is still in pipeline.
A new engineering college located in Nagpur has advertised in local dailies.

The college has been permitted by AICTE and seeks candidates for admission to I BE in Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering under Institute level quota.
Each branch will have an intake of 60.

Very little information is available on the website of the college at www.wbsnagpur.org. It shows the information about society that runs the college and the intake of each branch.
All other pages are "Under Construction".

No details are available regarding
the number/percentage of seats for Institute level quota.

CAP Autonomous Admissions Commence

The admissions to six autonomous institutions in Maharashtra starts on 29th July 2010. The candidates with merit numbers from 1 to 250 will be counselled in the morning session while those from 251 to 500 will be admitted in the afternoon session.

CAPCAI: Autonomous Colleges in Maharashtra

Applications are invited from eligible candidates of Maharashtra State for four year degree courses in Engineering/Technology by CENTRALISED ADMISSION PROCESS THROUGH COUNSELING FOR AUTONOMOUS INSTITUTES (CAPCAI) for the academic year 2010-2011.

The participating institutes are:
1. College of Engineering, Pune (COEP), Pune
2. Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT),Mumbai
3. Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, (VJTI), Mumbai
4. Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Institute of Engineering and Technology, (SGGSIET),Nanded
5. Walchand College of Engineering, Vishrambag, Sangli
6. Vishwakarma Institute of Technology,Pune

Here are the requirements:
1. The candidate must have scored 150 out of 300 marks (i.e. 50% marks)at HSSC (State Board or CSBE) examination in Physics, chemistry and Mathematics.
2. He must have scored a minimum 110 marks out of 200 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at MH-CET 2010.

For candidates in reservation quota, the requirements are as below:
1. The candidate must have scored 135 out of 300 marks (i.e. 45% marks)at HSSC (State Board or CSBE) examination in Physics, chemistry and Mathematics.
2. He must have scored a minimum 100 marks out of 200 marks in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics added together at MH-CET 2010.

The sale of Information booklet and application form will cost Rs 600.00 for General candidates and Rs. 400.00 for candidates from reservation quota, and will be available from 11th June 2010 to 21st June 2010.
